Linkin Park’s “New Divide” featuring new clips from Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen
by admin on Jun.13, 2009, under Industry News, Marketing, Opinions
Anyone that’s been around me over the past weeks could probably tell you how psyched I am to see Transformers: ROTF in IMAX opening night. I’ve been annoyingly persistent about having my friends buy tickets to got with me, regardless of the fact they’re $17 a pop. I don’t care, it’s going to be fuckin’ SICK!
Anyway, here is the newly released music video for Linkin Park’s “New Divide.” This single is the theme, so to say, of Transformers 2, like “What I’ve Done” was for the first one. Well folks, here’s the video:
I kinda like it, but at the same time, I hate the paint blurring. I want to see the sweet effects, not a series of smudges. The infared I’m okay with for certain parts, but there were far too many uses of it in this video.
What I did, for my own benefit because it flew by so quickly, was to screen-capture the TF2 clips that I found in the music video. I’ve uploaded them below. Sorry for the low res, they came from the MySpace video player. Still capable of seeing what they are though. Enjoy:

So who else is ready for this movie to come out?

“Beer in Hell” or in the Shitter?
by admin on Jun.10, 2009, under Industry News, Marketing, Opinions
I’ve been following Tucker Max’s I Hope They Serve Beer In Hell film as it has gone through the process of finding a studio to fund, getting the production rolling, and getting a distributor. All throughout the process, Tucker would update his blog with words of encouragement to his fans, “This movie is so fucking awesome, I am convinced it’s going to be a hit…” and so on and so forth. Recently he announced the film had picked up a Distributor… Yay. He never really got into who it was, or anything else. As I was perusing Box Office Mojo today, I found out.
Freestyle Releasing, known most recently for spreading more Uwe Boll trash, such as In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale, has picked up the distribution rights. Now, the reason this is a bad, is because of the initial release that is currently listed. According to Box Office Mojo, the September 25, 2009, release of I Hope They Serve Beer In Hell is set at 450 theaters. Source. What makes this BAD is the fact that Freestyle’s history of films making a decent theatrical gross, especially with films budgeted at $10,000,000(Like Beer In Hell was), isn’t good unless there is a release of 1,600 or more theaters. The films that Freestyle Releasing has that had ~450 theaters on it’s initial release made no more than $4,078,607. That number is Freestyle’s August 2008 release Bottle Shock.
Now does my concern seem validated? Now I don’t have the background details, so Tucker’s blog post stating,
We still haven’t decided precisely how many screens we will open on or in what cities. This has become a very interesting discussion: Do we open relatively small the first weekend and open on 500 screens in the key 50 markets only, which will get massive per screen averages and build buzz for an expansion (like Slumdog Millionaire), or do we immediately open wide with 2000 screens in every market (like most studio movies)?
may be the truth, or might not. He has no reason to lie, unless he knows it would sound bad that the movie based on his bestselling book is in the shitter. He does have a massive tour designed to hit up damn near every major college in the U.S., which is definitely a great way to generate additional buzz, but it still seems strange that the Producers would keep the 450 theater release as an option, if this was “going to be a hit either way…”
Something doesn’t smell right about this. Far too many good things to set this film in motion, only to be halted here. It seems to me like someone either got greedy with their contracts, or made a dumb decision.
I guess we’ll all have to see how this pans out.

And the Reveal…
by admin on Feb.11, 2009, under Industry News, Marketing, Post-Production
New photos, concept art, etc. has been posted for Devastator and The Fallen, two characters that are quite possibly going to be in this years, “Transformers, Revenge of the Fallen.” I’ve posted them here, hoping it will take longer for Paramount to send a angry letter asking for them to be taken down.

The first one is Devastator. Now, his torso is made up of that giant wheeled bot from the Super Bowl spot(Alt mode is the giant excavator they have in mining valleys), so just guess at how big he will actually be. And yes, he is a Decepticon.
The Fallen is that second badass brute. I think this film will center around defeating him. I think the title gives that away.
In the third image you see Devastator, The Fallen, and a bot that looks a helluva lot like Megatron. Bad news people, Michael Bay and the writers have said that Megatron is DEAD on many occasions. Then who is it? My guess is Galvatron, Megatron’s second form. Galvatron’s alt mode is a tank, and numerous details keep spilling out about toys and other things with “Megatron” in a damaged tank mode. I think this could be excellent, given that it follows the lore pretty well or a live action film.
Tell me what you guys think!

So… Some interesting things have popped up on the Net recently…
by admin on Nov.12, 2008, under Industry News, Marketing
Some very interesting things have shown up on varying sites on the net. All of which involve much-anticipated films of next year. The first of which involves J.J. Abrams’ “Star Trek” film. /Film poster Peter Sciretta posted an evolution of the USS Enterprise from The Original Series that started William Shatner’s career, all the way to the NCC-1701 that will be shown in the upcoming Trekkie Film.

FirstShowing also relayed the released image and had a small commentary from J.J. Abrams about why it looks the way it does. I think his explanation is brilliant.
If you’re going to do Star Trek there are many things you cannot change. The Enterprise is a visual touchstone for so many people. So if you’re going to do the Enterprise, it better look like the Enterprise, because otherwise, what are you doing?
The next film that had some great goodies for all the fans was Zack Snyder’s “Watchmen.” While I’m not quote sure where the lawsuit stands between the different studios, the marketing is still phenomenal. Here are six gorgeous posters that have recently been released:

SexDrive, the first ten minutes.

This is one of the moves I am going to go see this weekend. I thought the trailer gave it a good premise, but it had too much of the standard “Road Trip” style in it. Come to find out, that’s just due to bad marketing. Here’s the first ten minutes:

You’re gonna love this… Transformers CGI Goodies…
by admin on Sep.23, 2008, under Marketing, Post-Production
In doing my usual snooping of the in-pre-production, production, post-production, and marketing stages of a film, I came across this little nugget of sweetness. This is a video that ILM(Industrial Light and Magic) came out with that shows some of their CGI development work on Transformers, from last year. It’s a part of the Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen advertising campaign, even though they still have not finished principle photography… I hope you like it:
Oh, and here’s a little snippet of the stuff they are up to on the production of TF2:
Here’s another angle of what I think is that same explosion(different take, more than likely). Make sure you click the “HD is OFF” button so you can watch it bigger, in HD. It takes you offsite, but it’s sooo pretty.

Here’s some more Watchmen goodies:
by admin on Jul.18, 2008, under Marketing
I have taken it upon myself to provide you with the sleek hotness that Zack Snyder is releasing next March. I’ve already posted the trailer for this amazing film, and now I am going to show you what Entertainment Weekly has been up to. Apparently they have these things called “connections” and they were able to get onset, take pictures, and put them in this thing they do.. what’s it called; a “magazine.”

And that’s just the cover. Right after this little snippet there are five production stills. Each portrays some form of awesomeness in one frame. Here, be blown away:

If that’s not enough to convince you Zack Snyder has made some good stuff, here’s some proof that he has stayed true to the graphic novel, just as he did with 300. These are comparisons done by Rope of Silicon.

Stay tuned, because Snyder is supposed to be at Comic Con and release all kinds of sweet stuff.

After viewing, change your pants.
by admin on Jul.17, 2008, under Marketing
There isn’t quite any other way to say this, you are about to see God. Not really. Zack Snyder, the immensely talented Director of 300, was tapped to make one of the “Most Celebrated Graphic Novels of All Time” into a feature film, and he has delivered. Unfortunately we must wait until March 6th of next year to see the masterpiece, but I have a gift that will give you those same chills you got when you saw the first full The Dark Knight trailer. Enjoy!

The name’s Bond… James Bond.
by admin on Jul.16, 2008, under Marketing
It wouldn’t be right if I didn’t bring up the latest Bond film, now would it? Daniel Craig reprises his role as famous 007 in the 22nd film of this franchise, Quantum of Solace. The film is due out in the beginning of November, and the trailer makes you want to drive fast, shot guns, and beat people. The influence of any good action movie. Joining the cast as this film’s “Bond Girl” is Olga Kurylenko (Hitman). Here’s the teaser trailer:
I think it’s going to be even better than Casino Royale, and it’s not easy to do that. The script is written by them same guys that did Casino Royale, and Directed by Marc Forster. The trailer hints very clearly at the plot of this one. Picking up almost right on the tail end of the last film, Bond will track down anyone that le to Vespyr’s demise. He’s on a revenge mission, and he’s taking no prisoners.
